Your body can stand almost anything, it’s your mind you have to convince

Most of us want to loose weight, want to be in better shape, get a bigger but, or washboard abs. One thing that has become abundantly clear to me, no matter what the goal, is that in order to achieve real, lasting results, we need to have the right mindset. Discipline, preparation and sheer determination start and end with your mind.

🐐

With football season getting ready to start- one of our favorite athletes (and arguably the greatest quarterback to ever play the game ...sorry haters), Tom Brady is evidence of this power of the mind. If we look at his stats at the NFL combine in 2000, it’s almost shocking that he is the GOAT. It was legendary....only in how bad it was.

🐐

*His 40yd dash: 5.28 (still the worst among QB’s in the nfl)

*vertical jump only 24 1/2 (to give context QB Dereck Carr was 34 1/2)

*6th round draft pick #199...talk about starting from the bottom.

🐐

He is not quick, not fast, can’t jump BUT he has the heart and mind of a champion. He has sheer belief in his abilities, prepares more than anyone, and is more disciplined than most athletes. Yet... he has received criticism time and again. Perhaps we can draw a parallel to the criticism we give ourselves.

🐐

Let’s face it, most of us are our own worst critics, we beat ourselves up, pick ourselves apart. Don't be your own worse "Monday night quarterback." When criticism starts to take over - ask yourself- what would Tom Brady do? Brady proved and continues to prove a lot of people wrong who discredit his abilities and continue to wait for him to "fall off the cliff." Let’s be like him and get control over that inner voice so that self doubt doesn’t hinder our progress. Don't let a negative mind, set physical limitations on what your body is capable of.

"If you don't believe in yourself, why is anyone else going to be believe in you?" - Tom Brady
